“If the garden of Eden was not in Sugar Grove Precinct, then we are inclined to believe there was some mistake as to the place of its location”
Just 20 minutes North of Springfield, IL , Sugar Grove Family Farms was built upon a commitment to serve the highest quality products in a manner that respects both the animal and the consumer while following sound ecological principles.
The Sanert family has farmed this land since 1943 from Nile and Eileen to most recently Ron and Susie raising cattle, sheep, hogs, chickens, and various grain crops during that time. The fourth generation of Sanert family has since helped inspire a change that goes beyond organic in its production methods and seeks to produce the highest quality food on its 160 acre family farm.
Sugar Grove Family Farms aims to promote models of sustainable agriculture and educate others on the benefits of chemical-free farming while continuing to improve the nutrients of the soil. As a result, our family land benefits from allowing the animals to thrive in a natural setting while promoting healthier soils, grasses, and animals.
“Fine rolling prairie, rich in soil, with here and there a grove of timber, scattered over the broad plains like “the islands that slumber in the ocean,” is no untrue description of Sugar Grove precinct… The hand of civilization has been laid upon it to improve, and not to destroy, its virgin beauty” – History of Menard and Mason Counties, 1879
